The Open Book 

Life is an open book, a book with blank pages. You are the poet and the writer, free to fully express yourself. What are you going to write? most people do not really want freedom, because freedom involves responsibility, and most people are frightened of responsibility”.

We humans are totally free, but many times we undermine this freedom because we are afraid of the responsibility that all this entails. Fear causes our preference for bondage, because it is easier to be bound to the comfortable tracks of surety than to be free to wander with the risk of erring. That is why people forfeit everything into the hands of either God, or Political leaders. 

God gave carte blanche to humanity setting some clear responsibilities which were aimed for the common good of all creation. But in all this freedom, humanity chose to focus on that sole prohibition: the fruit of self-idolatry. God creates light, separates the waters, brings forth dry land, creates the plants, the trees, fish, birds, beasts, and, lastly, humanity, in His image. 

Work is not a punishment, it is a mission, the mission of continuing God’s creative work on earth. Humanity on earth is called to minister to creation with the mission: to serve and protect! When considering so many man-made environmental disasters… well… we are failing miserably.
